The change
Lilly told UK suppliers that the list price of Mounjaro for the private market would rise from 1 September 2025. The highest dose went from about £122 to £330 a month.
Why Lilly did it
Lilly said the UK launch price had been set low and was out of line with other developed countries. It also tied the move to a broader dispute about what the UK pays for new medicines.
Who pays
Most people using Mounjaro in the UK bought it privately through online pharmacies. They faced the rise directly. NHS prices were protected under a separate arrangement.
What happened next
Online pharmacies reported a surge of orders before the date. Some patients looked at switching to other products.
